Noodles came about primarily through a collaboration with artist Jake Machen. In March 2020 during the first lockdown we decided to create a project where one of us would create either a drawing or a track and the other would interpret it in their own way. To start this collaboration, Machen created a first sketch of artwork and that basically inspired the whole upcoming EP. The demo to what would become noodles was made on the same day as Machen sent the artwork.

The genesis of Noodles was built on video call conversations between Jake and myself about isolation and how it was shaping our creativity. Having collaborated previously for artwork for The Soft & Whippy Jam Band, we became excited about collaborating again and were interested in exploring this interpretative idea of perceiving the others work in your own way.

It’s sound can be looked at through the lens of Japanese Ambient Artists like Ryuichi Sakamoto, Hiroshi Yoshimura, Susumu Yokota and also Famicom and early console game soundtracks. More recently, the atmospheric works of Khotin.
